Quilting fair

PHILOMENA Langford from Patchwork Parade, Russell Street, has organised Oldham’s second annual patchwork, quilting and craft fair at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Sunday.

It runs 10am-3pm in aid of The Blossom Appeal, which supports the breast cancer unit at North Manchester General Hospital.


A TEAM of four Year 10 pupils from Radclyffe School came 11th at the regional final of the Student Investment Challenge in Birmingham, organised by the Institute of Financial Services. Their challenge was to invest £100,000 of virtual money on the stock exchange, deciding when to buy and sell to make the most profit.


SOUTH Chadderton Youth Centre, Lancaster Street, holds a jobs fair for 16 to 25-year-olds from 1-3pm tomorrow.


WANT to meet new people and enjoy a cuppa? Mills Hill Baptist Church, Mills Hill Road, holds a coffee morning every Wednesday, 10am-noon. Everyone is welcome and there are toys and activities for babies and toddlers.



TAKE part in free family fitness, healthy cooking or jewellery-making sessions at an open day at Turf Lane Lifelong Learning Centre on Sunday, noon-2pm.



ARCHDEACON Cherry Van will lead a special service on Mother’s Day (Sunday) to celebrate the a new chapter in the history of St George’s Church, Broadway. It has undergone a a refurbishment so it can become the parish church for Emmanuel Parish.
