Woman mugged under subway

POLICE have made a fresh appeal for witnesses after a woman was punched to the ground and robbed by a mugger in Chadderton.

The 20-year-old woman was walking through a subway at Parkgate at about 9.20am on Tuesday, July 29, when her attacker struck.

A man approached her from behind and punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

He snatched her bag before demanding her watch, which she handed over, before he fled.

He is described as Asian, aged 20-25, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build and wearing a black hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

Among the items stolen were a canvas shopping bag with the name “Wendy” hand-written on it, a black Ted Baker purse, cash and an iPhone.

Strike

Before the attack, the offender was seen loitering around Burnley Lane, close to Broadway.

Det-Con Tim Taylor said: “This was a violent mugging in broad daylight and the victim is understandably shaken by what happened.”
