A NEW community centre with easy access to council services has opened in Chadderton.
The Crossley Centre in Denton Lane, has fitness classes, table tennis coaching and health, housing and financial advice surgeries. Weekly computer sessions, regular arts and craft days and parent-and-toddler groups will start soon.
The Crossley Residents’ Social Group is also applying for funding to operate a pop-up community café from next month.
Oldham Mayor, Councillor Fida Hussain, unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening.
The centre will be managed for the council by Great Places, which has set up a management committee of councillors and residents responsible for day-to-day operations.
The building is part of the £113 million Gateways to Oldham PFI housing regeneration scheme, which has built affordable housing in four areas of the borough.
