YOUR vote could help make life easier for disabled pupils at a Chadderton Primary School.

Corpus Christi is one of 152 schools and other organisations trying to win a £5,000 grant in an online vote.

It wants to install a a wheelchair lift so pupils and a member of staff with mobility problems can easily get to the school hall.

They include Year 1 pupils Ilsa Ul-Haq and Riley Parrish, who sometimes have to go outside in the rain to get to the hall or even miss events. Ilsa was 18 months old when she contracted a virus which left her with heart and kidney conditions and a loss of hearing and speech.

The six year old, who no longer has the use of her right side after a stroke, has a curvature of the spine which limits her movement.

Riley, who will be six on Friday, defied doctors when he learned to walk again after a stroke.

The school has applied for a community award from financial products organisation Engage Mutual Assurance to help fund the £16,000 project.

It is raising money and is appealing to people to visit the Engage Mutual website and vote for their project.

Voting is open until Monday at www.engagemutual.com/foundation/projects/222260/
