IF you wear knickers down to your knees, you might live to be 100!

That’s Doris Casey’s theory - and she reached the milestone birthday today.

The great-great-grandmother will be surrounded by her loved ones at her party, followed on Sunday with combined Christmas and birthday party where she lives at Neville House in Chadderton.

Doris, who still has a great sense of humour, is partial to a glass of port or sherry, a fry-up and has a sweet tooth.

Daughter Collette (76), who lives in Chadderton, said: “She’s always eaten well. She eats everything they say she shouldn’t — she has a fantastic appetite.”

Doris has a daughter, four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Her long life might be genetic, as many members of Doris’s family lived to be 100 and over.

But when asked by her doctor what the secret was, she cheekily replied: “Long knickers down to your knees!”

Collette added: “She’s beautiful on the outside and beautiful on the inside. I have been so lucky to have a mum with me by my side. She’s always been there.”
