York visit

YEAR five pupils from Burnley Brow Community School, Victoria Street, visited the Jorvik Viking Centre in York as part of their history lessons.


PLANNING permission has been granted to demolish the vandalised, two-storey Junction Inn pub in Green Lane. JW Lees Brewery wants to build a car park on the land.

The owner of 267 Fields New Road has been told that he cannot fence off land next to his home to increase the size of his garden.


STAFF and sixth-form pupils found out more about nuclear energy when guest speakers, professors Bob Cywinski and Sue Kilcoyne from Huddersfield University, took part in a science cafe event at North Chadderton School.


SPORTY Year 8 pupils from Newman College, Broadway, beat Hulme Grammar School to win the Oldham Schools table tennis competition.

RADCLYFFE School pupils created paper sculptures inspired by the architecture of the Hunt Lane school during a visit by professional artist Gemma Wright.


STOCKBROOK Children’s Centre, Albion Street, holds Mess and Muddles play activities for under-sixes from 1.30 to 2.45pm on Mondays. Admission is 50p.


GUEST speaker John Doughty will chart the development of Manchester from the Roman settlement of Mamucium at the next meeting of Chadderton Historical Society. It takes place at Chadderton FC, Andrew Street, at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 5.
