YEAR 7 pupils from Newman College, Broadway, took part in a gothic creative writing workshop at John Rylands Library in Manchester.

THE official opening of the new skatepark in Coalshaw Green Park, Coalshaw Green Road, takes place from 1 to 3pm on Saturday.


ST Matthew’s Church, Chadderton Hall Road, is holding its parish retreat at St Oswald’s Retreat Centre, near Whitby, from May 8 to 10.


PUPILS at North Chadderton School released balloons to see how far they travel as part of national Science Week. Other activities at the Chadderton Hall Road secondary included a bridge building competition for primary school pupils.


FIND out some amazing facts about Salford at the next Chadderton Historical Society meeting on April 2. Glen Atkinson will be the guest speaker at Chadderton Park FC, Andrew Street, at 7.30pm. New members welcome. The society is also busy planning its 40th anniversary celebrations.


MUMS can get breast feeding support and weaning advice at the baby bistro group at Holly Grove Children’s Centre, Holly Grove. It meets from 10 to 11am on Thursdays.


Chadderton Park Sports Club is working with a team in Bedford to help it introduce football sessions for children with cerebral palsy. It follows the success of its own cerebral palsy football training.


FRIDAY’S Red Nose day activities at Radclyffe School, Hunt Lane, raised £619 for Comic Relief. They included a cake sale and raffle and were organised by pupils.
