A ROYTON schoolgirl raised an incredible £2,000 in one night for a cause very close to her family’s heart.

Grace Hulme (12) organised and arranged every last detail of a Macmillan fundraiser which packed out Royton Cricket Club.

Good-hearted Grace wanted to help repay the Macmillan nurses who helped her beloved grandmother, Janice Spinks (62), battle the blood cancer, multiple myeloma.

Janice has spent two years fighting the disease and is now in remission following chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.

Grace organised a twist on the charity’s “Night In For Macmillan”, instead making it a “Night Out”.

Grace said: “I did this event to raise money for Macmillan nurses who helped my grandma for two years through her treatment.

“She is improving day by day now because of the way Macmillan nurses helped her and I want to thank them and help others who are in the same place as my grandma.”

Grace’s mum, Kerrie, said her inspirational daughter was determined to do something for Macmillan after seeing how well they cared for her grandma.

“She has seen her grandma go through hell these last couple of years but the Macmillan nurses have always been there for her throughout it all and Grace knows that.

“It was her idea to do this event. From making the tickets to decorating the place and even holding a clothes sale on the night she’s done it all.

“We’re so proud of her, she’s done brilliantly.

“She gave a speech on the night and had everyone in tears.”

Grace, a pupil at North Chadderton School, even went to the trouble of making Macmillan bunting and table cloths and arranged a host of entertainment on the night including Michelle Marsh’s girl band duo “Twisted Heels”.

Her aunty Nicola Sencicle lent her a hand to set up a Just Giving page which, if you want to donate to Grace’s cause, is at www.justgiving.com and can be found by typing in “Nicola Sencicle”.
