A TERRIFIED mother-of-two says she no longer feels safe in her home after a burglar rummaged around her bedroom only inches from where she and her 11-month-old baby Brogan were sleeping.

Jodie Smith (22), of Old Lane, Chadderton, woke early on Saturday morning to discover someone had been in the house. The raider left muddy footprints that led directly into her room. The prints also led into the room of her other son, two-year-old Brody-Lee.

Though the burglar only stole £50 in cash and £100 in shopping vouchers, Jodie says she wants to move house.

She said: “I woke because my dog ran up the stairs. I walked down to find the back and front doors open.

“I followed his footsteps and realised he’d gone upstairs, straight into my son’s room. They then led to my room and he was just centimetres away from my other son’s cot.

“It’s terrifying, knowing I didn’t wake up to protect my son. I don’t feel safe or secure here anymore.” Greater Manchester Police have arrested a 35-year-old man who was due to appear at Oldham Magistrates’ Court today.
