Broadway cycle scheme launch
Date published: 25 January 2016
CHADDERTON cyclists will soon be able to pedal more safely in a new scheme targeting some of the North-West’s biggest roads.
Motorway junction crossings and major A roads will come under the spotlight as work begins on 19 cycling schemes across the region. The Chadderton project, which stretches into Oldham, will see two new cycle lanes on a two-mile stretch of Broadway between the M60 and the A627(M), linking two existing cycle routes.
The move is part of a national five-year, £100 million Government scheme to make cycling safer. More than 40 projects, including the one in Chadderton, have now begun and are set to be completed by spring.
