Muddy marvels!

WHEN the going gets tough, the tough get muddy.

Spurred on by support from Rio Olympic's golden girl Nicola White, a team of coaches and parents from Chadderton Park Cerebral Palsy team got down and dirty on the Tough Mudder Half assault course on the Cholmondley Estate, in Cheshire, on Sunday.

With team shirts sponsored by Yelloway Coaches the squad slip-slided their way through 15 challenges including quagmires, climbing walls, underwater cages and five miles of mud. They have raised an incredible £1,200 for their much-admired team of footie-mad youngsters.

A good luck tweet last week from Nicola was all the encouragement the 13-strong team - including Craig Simpson, Andy May, Stuart Turley, Dan Turley, Lee Hadfield, Lauren Molloy, Danielle Harrison, Gemma Parrish, Simon Parrish, Michael Corness, Trish Whyte, Hannah Dunks and Wayne Hurst - needed to fight their way to the finish line.

Chadderton Park Sports Club secretary Craig Simpson said: "The day was amazing from start to finish. The weather was lovely and it took the team about four hours to complete the course.

"It was such an enjoyable day and we've raised valuable funds for a great cause. Our total raised on our JustGiving page is £1,200, in addition we have received donations and sponsors individually. Yelloway coaches also donated £1,000 to us.

"We estimate our total to be over £2,000 which is fantastic and the money is going direct to the cerebral palsy football team."
