Oldham Area Civic Society

Civic pride

Oldham Area Civic Society was formed in November, 2004, by a small group of people wishing to promote an improvement in the area's built environment.

We promote civic pride and high standards of planning and urban design.

We hope to preserve and promote appreciation of our built, landscape and environmental heritage.

We also promote high quality public amenities and services in all areas of Oldham, to enable us to give a voice to all Oldhamers, by any means possible.

Civic societies are a way for people to make their voices heard and shape the way neighbourhoods develop.

Everyone has an opinion about the places where they live, work, shop and play, but how often are these views reflected in the decision-making process?

Grassroots movements, like civic societies are a way of ensuring that they are!

We managed to get inside the old Town Hall - Take a look at the pictures on the next page!
