Following last year's epic festive extravaganza, Christmas literally gets off with a bang of the starters gun as Saddleworth Santa Dash and Winter Wonderland returns for 2017. Organised by Saddleworth Round Table in partnership with Revolution 96.2, this year's event takes place on Saturday 2nd December, with registration and entertainment beginning from 12 noon.

Saddleworth Round Table's event organizer David Wood can't wait. "Last year's response was amazing. Over 500 kids and adults dressed as Santa ran the 2km or 5km course and we hope we can smash that target this year. The event raised over £3,500 for local good causes and charities which we used to host a cracking Christmas party in January for the elderly residents of a number of Oldham care homes. We've also been able to make donations to the Saddleworth Olympics, Saddleworth Morris Men (for repairs to the Rushcart), Uppermill Cricket Club and Greenfield Beaver Scouts".

The action-packed festive family fun day-out gets going at 12 noon on the main stage with music and entertainment from Breakfast Show DJ Elliot Eastwick and the team from Revolution 96.2. The Santa Dash, a 2km or 5km fun-run (you choose) starts at 2.30pm in the Village Square in Uppermill. At 3.30pm Santa's sleigh will be pulled by Saddleworth's very own Morris-Men Reindeer up and down the high street before a grand Christmas lights switch on with carol singing from St Chad's School Choir in front of the Christmas Tree. The event wraps-up with a spectacular firework display at around 5pm.

As ever, there will be plenty of festive cheer with Mulled Wine, Real Ale and other festive treats available from our expanded Christmas market in the Square. And if you get there early, you can visit Santa himself in Uppermill Methodist church, just next to our main stage.

Places for this year's Santa Dash are selling fast so click the link below to buy your tickets. Ticket prices have been frozen from last year so adults tickets are £10 (plus booking fee) which includes a full Santa suit, beard and hat, finishers medal and running number. Kids (under 5s free) tickets are £5 (plus booking fee) which includes a finishers medal and Santa hat.
