‘Don’t send Flowers’ is a darkly funny look at life and death and living with both. And how cake if not a cure for cancer, is a pretty effective placebo. Grace meets Louis, who tries to chat her up in a waiting room. Pretty soon they spark up an ill-advised affair. Meanwhile she has started having coffee with John, who she talks out of wasting the rest of his life on self-help books. While Grace helps John finish his life’s work, before life gives up on him, she loses herself in Louis. When Grace’s father dies, it brings home what brought their dysfunctional group together in the first place, and all three are forced to confront their feelings.
