OWN GOAL: Josh Law
FLEETWOOD 1, ATHLETIC 0
A LATE Josh Law own goal handed Fleetwood victory in a scrappy outing on the coast, increasing the pressure on Athletic manager Stephen Robinson.
The match-winner came in added time, Law sliding in to try to cut out a cross from the left but only succeeding in diverting into his own net.
Darius Osei had the best chance for Stephen Robinson's side but after being set in on goal by Billy Mckay in the second half, failed to pull the trigger in time and was tackled.
Lee Croft half-volleyed into the side netting after the break, while at the other end an Athletic side that defended well restricted the hosts to mainly blocked shots and efforts from outside the box, the best of which was Ashley Hunter's 25-yard effort that curled a couple of feet wide of Connor Ripley's left-hand post.
Chris Long nearly won it for the hosts when his deflected 89th-minute shot was palmed over the top by Ripley, before Law's unfortunate intervention.
