Danger on the Diggle school run

THE FRIDAY THING: I know I have been over this ground many times before, but I have just received an 80-page report on the plans for a new school in Saddleworth.
Nobody living in Diggle wants the new school to be built there, not least because of a list of dangerous features that could prove a major threat to pupils going to the new school. Included among these are buildings already on site, a canal, a railway line and bus, car and lorry traffic.
Parents fear for the safety of children dropped-off or picked up there. Among my worries is the fact that there is simply no pavement on the left-hand side of the busy main road running through Diggle.
Everyone walking to the school will have to use the right-hand pavement, which is narrow and carries its own hazards.
Having walked its length, I believe it is a danger - and a menace with motor vehicles added.
Uppermill is the place for the new school Iit offers lots of amenities, is safely isolated from traffic, and ticks all the safety-first boxes.
