After the tough game at South Wales and the ridiculous conditions that resulted in Dale Bloomfield and Danny Whitmore showing symptoms of hypothermia, Tuesday’s training session was always going to see those two getting hammered for being “soft.”
Leaving the field because you are cold just isn’t acceptable in rugby league; we leave that sort of thing to footballers. It won't be long before Dale is wearing gloves and a bob hat on the wing!
But moving on, we have Hemel Stags this weekend. They didn’t get off to a great start, going down 24-0 to title favourites Hunslet, but this makes them dangerous because they will be looking for a first win.
We have spoken about starting the season well, since we believe last year’s slow start cost us promotion.
The next game also sees us return to the traditional red and white hoops of the club’s glory days. The fans have been crying out for years for this kit, and hopefully we can get a few of the disillusioned spectators to return on the back of this.
To any fans who are thinking of staying at home on Sunday, I’d say come down to Whitebank and cheer us on!
We have a young side (well, apart from Rex - Jason Boults), which is talented and possesses bags of skill and enthusiasm. Let’s get a thousand fans there at the weekend and I promise we won't disappoint!
