HEADED by new boy Craig Briscoe, players who picked up knocks in Oldham’s 22-0 win at Barrow will be assessed at training tonight as thoughts turn to Sunday’s Law Cup clash with neighbours Rochdale at Spotland.
The visit to Craven Park was an eventful one for Briscoe and for the club’s other new signings, Danny Grimshaw, Jack Spencer and Jamel Chisholm.
Briscoe, taking a short pass from Grimshaw, went down in a two-man tackle and damaged a knee. He was carried off in the eighth minute.
Grimshaw, who sparked the attack that led to Richard Lepori’s opening try, picked up a dead leg near the end and was taken off as a precaution. Spencer spent 10 second-half minutes in the sin bin for a late challenge on Brad Marwood after his kick downfield. Chisholm took a painful blow to a thigh muscle and was taken off near the end.
Said assistant boss Lee Spencer: “We’ll assess them tonight. Craig has slightly strained an anterior knee ligament, but with a bit of luck he should be okay by weekend.
“We’re hopeful that Grimmy and Jamel will be okay too, but we’ll know more tonight.”
