Opening-day loss: Scott Naylor.
Oldham RL 0, London Broncos 22
OLDHAM began life in the Kingstone Press Championship with a 22-0 defeat by London Broncos at Bower Fold.
In front of 767 supporters at the Roughyeds’ new home for the 2016 season, Scott Naylor’s side were unable to break down their full-time opponents despite long spells of pressure in the opening period.
Trailing 4-0 at the break to an Andy Ackers try, last term’s League One champions conceded again when Jack Bussey went in. Iliess Macani and Ben Hellewell added to Broncos’ touchdown tally, while Wes Naiqama kicked three of the four conversion attempts.
Oldham never let their heads drop throughout the 80 minutes and worked hard to the end in trying to get some points on the board.
