BIG SMILES . . . Crompton House’s Year Eight basketball team, fronted by captain Harry Pennells.
CROMPTON House’s talented team were crowned champions of Oldham as they defeated Hulme Grammar 20-8 in the final of the Year Eight Schools’ Cup at the Ball Hall in Failsworth.
Having topped their qualifying group, Crompton House defeated Saddleworth 28-10 in a cracking semi-final clash.
The other last-four tie saw Hulme overcome North Chadderton 16-6 in another tense and quality-filled encounter.
Eight school teams took part in the tournament, with Blue Coat and Royton and Crompton finishing third in their in their respective pools and Radclyffe and Newman closing in fourth spot.
The Year Seven tournament will be staged after half-term, on March 9.
