FOOTBALL:
SECOND beat first as Limeside King George inflicted a rare defeat on leaders Coppice United ‘A’ in Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division.
Wayne Ware, Chris Robinson and Will Buckley did the damage as Naveed Butt’s brace for Coppice proved in vain. It was only their second loss of the campaign.
Limeside are just one point behind their title rivals, having played the same number of matches.
Oddies Athletic remain rooted to the bottom of the table after going down to a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Rifle Range ‘A’.
Famous King George ‘A’, who are only ahead of Oddies on goal difference, lost by the same scoreline against Red Star, for whom Carl Beamish scored a hat-trick and Ryan Hobin pounced twice.
Ryan Shaughnessy replied twice for Famous King George.
Bobby Fulham’s two-goal salvo wasnt enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to Fitton Hill.
Fulham was joined on the scoresheet by Leighton Stephenson and Mark Cook.
In David Giblin Division One, Anglers moved three points clear at the top of the table after a 2-1 defeat of FC Dynamos, while second-placed Rifle Range ‘B’ were held to a 2-2 draw at Failsworth Athletic.
