Trophy delight for Denise

DENISE Brown was all smiles after clinching the Mr Captain’s Trophy at Saddleworth.

In the two-round competition, she carded nett scores of 69 and 66 for a 135 total.

Linda Newman (74 + 71=146) was six shots adrift in second place, on a card play-off from Kaye Orme.

The first-day prize went to Sue Booth (93-25-68), while Liz Hinchliffe landed the second-day accolade (85-13-72).

Sheila Cooper, Sue Booth and Cheryl Eastwood, with a score of 72, won a Goulash competition at the course.

Jane Wild, Jenny Knight and Ann Walsh, on 70, were the runners-up.

Mary Buckley held her nerve in an 18-hole play-off to snatch the Lady President’s Prize at OLDHAM.

Three players — Julie Connolly, Chris Peirson and Buckley — had to go to extra time after each registered 33 points.
