FOOTBALL: SPRINGHEAD came within three minutes of beating FBT Manchester League Premier Division leaders Wythenshawe Amateurs, only to be be pegged back in a game that ended 1-1.
The local side started much the brighter, with Ryan Hanson and Paul Stevenson both threats.
Springhead took the lead after 15 minutes when Stevenson’s free-kick was headed home by Jonny Pauley.
As the final 15 minutes approached, Wythenshawe enjoyed their best spell of the game.
This pressure finally told as the ball dropped to their forward with a few minutes left. He fired past Bushara. Things could have got worse as Wythenshawe then struck a post.
Elsewhere in the top flight, it was a bad day for Avro and Royton Town.
Avro crashed 5-1 at Rochdale Sacred Heart, while Town were comprehensively beaten, 7-4 at home by East Manchester.
In Division One, Uppermill lost 3-1 at Old Alts.
