Heroic Pollards produce true team effort

POLLARDS ‘B’ incredibly pulled back a 98-point deficit to win by 41 points against Deaf ‘C’ in the Handicap Cup in Division Four of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League.
Each of the Pollards players contributed to their overall win, with Gary Kershaw the man-of-the-match.
Uppermill ‘C’ were in a comfortable position with 35 of their 49 points advantage still intact after seven games against Owls ‘A’. Things then got nailbiting, as Owls’ put up a determined fight, gaining 31 points in the remaining games as they eventually lost by just four.
Unison ‘D’ held off the efforts of Werneth ‘D’ to hold on to 32 of their 91-points start.
In Division One, Rosehill, with only two players, matched Birley Moss point for point, but had to concede defeat due to their third player being ill.
Hollinwood ‘A’ started the final set with a two-point lead, and were able to add a further five to beat Honeywell ‘C’. Lucas Maciejewski was Honeywell’s star player.
Werneth ‘A’ produced a strong team effort to add to their handicap start and emerge comfortable winners against Honeywell ‘A’.
