Last chance for Oldham to make third
Date published: 13 March 2015
OLDHAM travelled to Crewe in the hope of securing third place in Division Two South-West of the North Manchester Women’s Hockey League.
But with only 11 players available - including injured Skipper Fran Lees - they soon found themselves on the back foot and eventually lost 3-0.
All the goals came in the first half, with the opening strike from a short corner. Oldham were much better in the second period, with Lesley Beddow producing a determined performance in defence.
Despite the defeat, victory at Wilmslow in the final game of the season on Saturday would clinch Oldham their best finish in the club’s history.
