MOSSLEY suffered a potentially damaging Evo-Stik League Division One North defeat as their play-off hopes were hit at Brighouse Town.
The Yorkshire hosts won 3-2 after they had raced into a 3-0 lead by the 48th minute.
Rio Ahmadi scored a couple of goals late on for the Lilywhites, but they weren't enough and the visitors dropped to 10th place in the table, now six points adrift of Spennymoor Town in the final play-off place.
Ernest Boafo and Isaac Baldwin (two) were the scorers for Brighouse.
The Lilywhites will need to bounce back positively tomorrow when they host Spennymoor in a crucial fixture at Seel Park (7.45pm kick-off).
IT also proved to be a disappointing day in the North-West Counties League First Division for CHADDERTON, who went down 2-1 at Eccleshall.
Jack McKay opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark for the hosts, but Chaddy soon replied thanks to Chris Pauley’s goal.
However, Ryan Greene struck the winning goal for Eccleshall with just three minutes to go. Chaddy slipped to 12th place in the table.
OLDHAM BORO had no fixture at the weekend. Chaddy return to action tomorrow night with a trip to Atherton LR (7.45pm kick-off), while Boro travel to take on AFC Darwen on Wednesday.
