Oldham Town Centre Masterplan
A public consultation on proposals for a new look town centre has been launched by Oldham Council.
In June the Council unveiled initial plans for this ambitious regeneration scheme across five strategic town centre sites totalling 21 acres.
The benefits will be the provision of new town centre homes, 55,000 square metres of new and refurbished employment space and economic activity worth an additional £50m each year to Oldham's economy.
The masterplan seeks to remodel Oldham town centre to match the local authority’s aspirations for it to be a vibrant place with high-quality attractions, an excellent cultural and shopping offer and a night-time economy that make it stand out as a destination within Greater Manchester.
Jean Stretton, Oldham Council Leader, said: “This is the biggest forward planning exercise we have ever had for Oldham town centre and it is vital that we get it right.
“Whether you are an Oldham resident, a local business or a visitor please take a few minutes to drop in and view the plans - we would welcome your views. Nothing is cast in stone at the moment and your input could be vital in shaping our future town centre.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and have your say and ensure we design a town centre that we can all be proud of.”
