The Open Day and Coffee Morning held at the new offices of Yale Housing raised £200 for MacMillan Cancer.

Julie Thompson, the founder and CEO of Yale Housing, welcomed the guests to the event, and Mayor Qumer made a speech recognising the efforts of Yale Housing and the service provided to residents of Oldham.

Ms Thonpson said: “One of our tenants, Marie Kay, informed us that she was hoping to hold a coffee morning. We thought it would be a good idea to combine the two events.”

Marie Kay said: “I wanted to support my sister Emma, who has recently undergone treatment for cancer and is now in remission.

“I wanted to repay those involved for all their hard work and dedication who helped her sister and her family through this particularly troubling time.

“Yale Housing said they would help me by hosting the event at their new offices."

The Mayor of Oldham, Shadad Qumer attended the event with his wife Sobia, as did Councillor Jenny Harrison.

The event was also attended by officers from Oldham Council, NHS, Social Services, Keyring and First Choice Homes, and tenants of Yale Housing.

Darren Edwards, finance director at Finlays Beverages Ltd, supported the event by providing free tea and coffee to help bolster donations.

Yale Housing offers accommodation and tenancy support to individuals with long term support needs, such as mental health issues, learning disabilities, young people leaving care, people with alcohol or substance misuse issues and prolific offenders within the borough of Oldham.

The new Yale Housing offices are at 103 Union Street, Oldham, OL1 1QH.
