Literacy mentors at Oldham Sixth Form College
A new cohort of literacy mentors are now trained and ready to help students with vital literacy skills.
The student mentors have been rigorously trained in grammar and punctuation by English Language tutor, Jennifer Benzer, and are now ready to be paired with mentees.
One of the new literacy mentors, Emine, explained that she benefitted from a mentor in Spanish during her first year and jumped at the opportunity to offer support to other students, she said: “I found the one-to-one support from another student really helpful as it was personalised and I could learn at a pace that was right for me.
"Literacy is so important, and if I can help just one student, then taking part in this scheme will have been worthwhile.
"It is also great to put on university applications.”
