Letter from Parliament: Debbie Abrahams MP
Date published: 01 November 2017

Debbie Abrahams MP
Alongside my regular constituency surgeries, it's been a busy time in the constituency.
I recently chaired a meeting in Denshaw with the local community association, Highways England and Highways Oldham.
By working together, Highways England have stated they will explore options to introduce a roundabout or signalised junction at Denshaw Junction.
Those at the meeting supported this move and Highways England officials will now try to bid for funding from the Road Investment Period 2020-2025. This is when funds are next available.
In the meantime, a number of short term solutions will be also be looked at including road signings and markings.
Revised Saddleworth School planning applications are live for public consultation and comment until Wednesday 17 January 2018. Following consultation, it is anticipated the applications will be considered by members of Oldham Council’s Planning Committee in early 2018. All relevant paperwork can be viewed or downloaded from the planning section on the Oldham Council website here using planning reference number: PA/337301/15. I do urge constituents to get involved and comment on the proposals.
I recently visited Wayra Oldham to learn about the work they are doing to increase the number of socially conscious businesses in Oldham.
A number of entrepreneurs will work from the building in Oldham town centre receiving mentoring and advice to help their businesses develop and grow.
