Mountain biker with bad leg injuries rescued by Oldham Mountain Rescue Team
Date published: 25 November 2017
A male mountain biker who had come off his bike on a track running down off Alphin Pike in Greenfield sustained bad injuries to his lower leg.
The man had fallen on a steep and exceptionally slippery part of the hill, and a carry down on stretcher would have been quite precarious for the casualty and his rescuers.
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team therefore requested assistance from the Coastguard Search & Rescue service to winch the casualty safely aboard their helicopter and transfer him to the bottom of the hill to a waiting ambulance for transfer to hospital.
