Dr Kershaw's Hospice Royton Charity shop break in

Date published: 19 December 2017

The Dr Kershaw's Hospice Royton charity shop was broken in to just after 4.00am on Friday (15 December).

A spokesperson for Dr Kershaw's Hospice said: “This was senseless damage to the property; no money was taken.

“We have gone through our CCTV and sent on to the police, there was also blood found at the scene.

“We are hoping they find the culprit/s an upstairs window was the point of access, the upstairs of the shop has been trashed, part of the till taken, and alarm system taken off the wall.

“We are devastated about this as our supporters give us their support by donations and spending money in our charity shops and there are some horrible people out there who do these things.

“The shop has remained closed all day to allow the police to gather evidence and to tidy up the shop, we will be opening tomorrow, Saturday 16 December, we do not want to let these criminals win.

“We now must look into the cost of the damage and feeling of threat to staff and volunteers.

“We would really appreciate any donations from people who would like to contribute towards the cost of repairing the damage but at this time will not be accepting donations of clothing and other items until the new year.”
