Have your say on community involvement across Oldham

Date published: 14 September 2018

Oldham Council is looking for the views of residents to help shape its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).

The statement outlines how Council officers will inform people about the preparation of the Local Plan, provide guidance and assistance to neighbourhood planning groups and will set out how, you, will be involved in planning applications.

The consultation is an opportunity for people to have a say on how The Council engage with people in the early stages of growth and development.

The Council is looking for comments on the details outlined in the draft Statement of Community Involvement.

Officers also welcome suggestions of any other techniques or methods that could be used to help them talk to and involve as many people as possible.

Residents have until Thursday, October 25, 2018 to submit their comments.

Following the consultation, the council will consider all the responses received and a final SCI will be prepared.

Councillor Hannah Roberts, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “The statement aims to support our co-operative agenda as we continue to promote working with a resident focus – encouraging residents and other stakeholders to be engaged in the early stages of the planning process.

“We want the views of residents so we can work together and create a borough that works for us all.”

The council wants to make sure that as many residents as possible have their say in the planning process and shaping the Local Plan and particularly welcomes views from those who don’t usually get involved’
