An IT firm based in Greater Manchester has taken part in a charity football match, raising more than £400 for Alzheimer’s Society during World Alzheimer’s Month.

The match saw Aspect IT take on fellow Oldham-based business, Web Applications UK, with a score of 14-9 at the final whistle.

The teams took to the pitch at Soccer Factory in Rochdale on 13th September 2018 in support of the charity.

Aspect IT, which recently celebrated its 15th year in business, donated £15 for every goal its team scored.

The firm also set up a JustGiving Page, which has received donations from the local business community, friends and family.

Alzheimer’s Society is an organisation significant to Aspect IT’s co-director, Ian Howarth, whose family was recently affected by the disease.

The charity provides vital support to people with dementia.

World Alzheimer's Month is an international campaign which takes place every September to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia.

Founded in 2003 by directors, Peter Dorotiak and Ian Howarth, Aspect IT provides IT services including web design, software development and IT Support to small and medium sized businesses in the Greater Manchester region.

Commenting on the match, Peter Dorotiak said: “The match was a great success; we raised more than we anticipated and we were able to celebrate our 15th birthday as a team, doing something we all enjoy. Alzheimer’s Society is a fantastic charity and we’re so pleased we could do our bit to support them.”

Steph Potts, Community Fundraiser at Alzheimer’s Society in Greater Manchester added: “We are so grateful that Aspect IT and Web Applications UK have united against dementia on the football pitch this World Alzheimer’s Month.

"Fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society is not only a brilliant way to boost staff morale and engage other business but of course it is for the benefit of people living with dementia.

“Without support from people like Aspect IT we simply wouldn’t be here for the 30,000 people living with dementia in Greater Manchester alone.

"Supporting them to live as well as possible through our research programmes, local services and campaigning.”
