Contractor damaged 132,000 volt cables in Oldham

Date published: 17 October 2018

Electricity North West will continue repair work during the coming weeks after cables were damaged at a site close to the Alexandra Retail Park last week.

Excavation work will continue imminently at a now badly-damaged area by the side of the Home Bargains store at the bottom end of the retail park.

A statement from Electricity North West read: "A third party contractor damaged one of our 132,000 volt cables near Alexandra Retail Park.

"Our teams attended the site to assess the damage and make it safe and secure.

"Our team will be working to repair the damaged cable over the next few weeks.

"The work is being carried out on private land so a permit isn’t required."

Electricity North West confirmed that this fault is not connected to the large fault which occurred around Ashton, also last week.
