Staff at Dr Kershaw's have urged caution after they were alerted over the weekend of bogus cold callers asking for financial donations for the Royton Hospice.
A statement read: "We can assure everyone that this is not our practice to cold call for cash donations.
"The only people that would call is our Hospice Lottery Canvassers.
"They would have Photo ID and would never ask for cash donations."
Please be vigilant is clearly the message from Hospice staff.
Dr Kershaw's Hospice - based on Turf Lane - provides specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting illnesses in a peaceful and homely environment.
The Hospice requires £8,000 per day in order to continue providing care free of charge to patients.
