Are you looking to develop your personal or professional skills?

Do you have the passion and enthusiasm to volunteer for a local good cause?

To celebrate Trustees’ Week 2018 (November 12-16), Action Together is hosting the first Get on Board event, on Thursday, November 15, from 5-7pm, at The Grill at Number 20, Oldham, aimed at promoting Trusteeship and showcase the range of roles available within local voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations.

Action Together is launching the Get on Board events across Oldham and Tameside.

The events will provide an opportunity for potential volunteers to learn more about the role of charity trustees, the benefits and next steps to becoming involved.

Attendees will have the chance to meet chief executives from local charities, network with other trustees and get support from Action Together team.

Liz Windsor-Welsh, Chief Executive at Action Together, said: “Local charitable organisations need local people who are passionate, enthusiastic and skilled to set the strategic direction and manage their resources so that they can maximise their public benefit.

"We believe a strong board of trustees volunteering their time to support their charity has the power to not only strengthen a charity but to make a lasting difference for people in Oldham and their communities.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to our board of trustees, who volunteer their time to ensure Action Together is supported with strong governance and leadership which enables our charity to support community, voluntary, faith and social enterprise organisations across Oldham and Tameside.”

There are currently 8,400 committee/board members in Oldham and 8,000 committee/board members in Tameside, but more are needed.

Trusteeship is open to all ages 16+, backgrounds and skills sets.

It allows you to experience and gain new skills including developing skills in strategy, leadership and negotiation.
