Unity Partnership calls for Oldham Foodbank support

More than 200 donations have so far been received by the Foodbank

Staff from Unity rallied to support the foodbank – which provides food to those most in need and did so much to support local families over Christmas – with additional security support following the break-in on January 7.

In partnership with Oldham Council, its parent company, staff also donated more than a tonne (1145kg) of food.

Now, with the foodbank getting back to business as usual, Unity is urging others to follow suit.

Akddus Khan, Unity Partnership’s Community Liaison Officer, said: “Our team have always been generous in supporting good causes in the community, but they went above and beyond this time. I’m really proud of them.

“Now it’s about the community rallying round more widely and supporting the Foodbank.

“Their volunteers do amazing work to support local families in need.”

Unity Partnership director, Cllr Peter Dean, added: “I want to congratulate our staff and Oldham Council staff for rallying around to support the Foodbank following this disgraceful break-in.

“They weren’t prompted to do so by management – this was all done by our staff. They’re a credit to the company.

“I’d echo Akddus’ comments too – the foodbank needs the support of the community so I would urge people to give generously wherever they can.”
