Council leader Councillor Sean Fielding insists Oldham's town centre is safe
The survey for the website ilivehere.co.uk offers people the chance to comment on their town, city or village, they then collect them up and rank the places in the UK who receive the most negative feedback.
It means people’s opinions of areas of the country are quite blunt but also offers the chance to see what residents think of the places they live.
When it comes to Oldham the comments are equally as depressing with people who come from the former mill town described as “people of Oldham look as though the government has been performing nuclear testing in the area.”
The website also claims “If you like Chavs, then Oldham is the place for you. Around every corner you are likely to find a group of young thugs clad in Burberry, Mckenzie, La Coste and whatever is being sold at the local JD sports.”
In the 2019 edition of the poll Rochdale has come in as the third worst place to live in the UK while Oldham came in ninth.
According to the website Rochdale has continued it’s climb up the rankings with people describing the market town as the “cesspit of the universe” and a place “where evolution took a break and spat out this breed of useless slack-jawed yocals with less IQ than a glass of water.”
Despite topping the polls when it comes to areas in Greater Manchester, Rochdale isn’t the worst in the country with Peterborough coming in number one followed by Huddersfield then Rochdale.
Also appearing in the top ten is Blackburn, Rotherham, Hull and Doncaster.
