Greater Manchester Police launch the ‘Gift of Advice’ campaign

Date published: 30 November 2019

Greater Manchester Police have launched the ‘Gift of Advice’ Christmas campaign for communities across Greater Manchester.

This year they are looking at how they can work together to keep Greater Manchester safe.

Alongside operational activity, they are looking at preventative measures to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime over the festive period.

Giving the gift of advice, they hope people of Greater Manchester will welcome these gifts and take action to ensure the best possible Christmas.

Home security and personal safety is something everyone should be aware of, especially during the festive season.

During the next few weeks GMP will launch a range of videos across social media and will detail advice to help keep people and their belongings safe.

As the number of people ordering online increases in the run up to Christmas, especially during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the first week will start with guidance around shopping online.

Following this, six short videos will be released in the run up to the big day and topics will include, gifts and valuables, home security, personal safety, vehicle crime and burglaries.

These are practical advice tips that everyone can follow to ensure they stay safe and secure this Christmas.

Assistant Chief Constable Nick Bailey added, “We want all residents across Greater Manchester to have a safe and enjoyable Christmas. The films we will be releasing have been created to help educate on preventative measures we can all take during the festive period.

“Keeping the residents of Greater Manchester safe is always at the forefront of our work, and I encourage everyone to follow our advice and use the information we are going to be giving out.

“If everyone is aware of the precautions they can take, together we can continue to create places to live that everyone can be proud of.”
