Christmas carol concert
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) held its annual Christmas carol concert at Manchester Cathedral on (Monday 16th December).
The concert was attended by GMP officers, staff and volunteers, as well as those who have supported the Force throughout the year.
In attendance was Coronation Street star, Cherylee Houston, who back in October presented the GMP STARS awards alongside fellow actress, Melissa Johns.
The STARS Awards is a ceremony which recognises the exceptional work that takes across the Force on a regular basis.
The STARS Awards raised £2,085 through a raffle on the night for the charity Triple C which encourages disabled people to enjoy the arts, singing and dancing.
Cherylee and Melissa are both patrons of the charity, and Chief Constable Ian Hopkins presented Cherylee with the cheque raised for the charity on the night of the carol concert, commenting on the women’s talents as actresses, as well as being incredibly inspirational to others.
Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, said, “It truly was an honour to present this much deserving and worthwhile charity with the cheque on such a special night for GMP.
“The STARS Awards is about recognising exceptional work and I am so proud that in doing so we could support such an exceptional charity which is making really steps in getting disabled people better represented within the arts.”
Cherylee Houston, patron of Triple C charity, said, “We are so grateful for the generosity of the GMP.
This money will really help us connect with more disabled people within the arts, I’m so proud to be part of such a great city where we lead on change.”
