Police surround Tenerife hotel, popular with North West holidaymakers.

Date published: 26 February 2020

Armed guards and police barriers surround a hotel in Tenerife, where 1,000 holidaymakers are in quarantine for two weeks, after four guests contracted coronavirus.

160 British people are understood to be staying in the hotel.

An Italian doctor at the H10 Costa Adeje Palace Hotel tested positive for Covid -19, six days after arriving at the resort.

He was taken to hospital and then three others, who were also in his party from Italy, also came down with the illness.

There are also questions being asked about what has happened to the people on the flight, the Italian doctor and his party flew in on.

All entries and exits to the luxury hotel have been blocked and the hotel guests have been told they'll be in lockdown for up to 14 days.

The four star hotel, in the south west of the island, is very popular with North West holidaymakers and people from Oldham.

The H10 resort are now making alternative plans for anyone flying into the resort, to stay at other locations.

The advice to anyone who is flyng out to Tenerife is to check the latest travel advice from the Foreign Office.
