Uganda trip is postponed - so Steve vows to run another marathon around Oldham!

Date published: 26 May 2020

This week Oldham's super adventurer and relentless fund-raiser Steve Hill should have been in Uganda, taking part in a number of worthy charity projects.

This coming Saturday (May 30) Steve, a teacher who works at St Joseph's School in Shaw, was due to be be running in the Uganda Marathon for the third time, only that has now been postponed until next May.

However, undeterred as ever, Steve has decided that on Saturday he will now run his own Uganda Marathon - around the streets of Oldham!

Steve will be raising money for the Team Hill Charitable Trust, which is helping make a difference for our local community during the Coronavirus and raising money to support friends in Uganda.

Steve has already run an Oldham marathon once since lockdown.

Steve told us: "Sadly, the coronavirus has meant that this year’s Uganda event has been postponed.

"As a result of this, I will be running my own Virtual Uganda Marathon around the streets of Moorside where I live, as a fundraiser to support the people in Masaka, who are struggling to support their families and are starving during these unprecedented times.

"Thank you as always to everyone for their continued support."
