Co-op, on Oldham Road in Grotton
An on line appeal has been launched to support shocked staff of a store that was ram raided last night.
The Coop in Grotton was attacked by thieves armed with hammers who dragged the cash machine outside, while trashing the shop.
The staff witnessed the unfolding drama and a post in a Justgiving page today says: “.Luckily the staff are all unharmed, but this is not the first time Grotton Coop has suffered horrific events and it‘s just so sad seeing what the staff have to go through working in a village shop!
“The staff have worked consistently throughout covid/lockdown, they amazingly managed to keep the shop well stocked during the panic buying stage.
“They delivered to vulnerable people in the community who were isolated and they continue to keep everyone safe with their current covid policies!
“Sadly the events of last night and previous occasions don‘t show the staff how appreciated they are and it would be lovely if we could show our support for the wonderful staff so that they could maybe treat themselves. They deserve it.”
