Do you bit to help the Wild Things fly again

A hugely popular Oldham performing arts group has begun a Crowdfunding campaign in a bid to try and recoup thousands of pounds of vital lost income.

Wild Things Performing Arts is a (not for profit) community performing arts group, which allows children aged three-18 to gain confidence, social ability and skills in performing arts via drama, dance and singing lessons.

The group has been around since 2008.

However, as is the case with so many volunteer-run community groups this year, the coronavirus crisis has hit desperately hard.

A Wild Things spokesperson said: "We create shows every year, we're involved in lots of local events (carnivals, parades, fundraisers) and the young people that attend have masses of fun with everything they do.

"We love our jobs and the students are like one big family.

"Over lockdown, though, we lost about £30,000.

"It's been devastating for the group and we almost had to consider shutting down.

"However, we have started some of the classes back again and have started a Crowdfunding campaign to help us recoup some of the money we lost.

"We can't give up now!

"Wild Things is too important for the community to lose.

"Our Crowdfunder has got off to a great start, but we still have a long way to go.

"If we raise £5,000 it will help us get back on our feet again, and if we raise £10,000 we will be able to offer free classes to some of the students who can no longer afford to attend.

"We are offering different rewards for different amounts pledged."
