Super effort: Bob and Alyx Bardsley
Fantastic local fundraisers Bob and Alyx Bardsley initially set out to raise £200 for Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind, but instead they managed to raise an amazing £2,000!
Last Thursday (December 17) at 3am in the morning, Bob and Alyx set off to walk the 50-plus miles to Southport to support the local mental health charity.
More than 100,000 steps and 17 hours later, and thanks to a little bit of first aid, they made it.
Alyx said: “We were thinking in the lead up to Christmas and due to the lack of funding due to coronavirus, we wanted to be proactive and support this local charity now when they need it the most.
"I’m literally so overwhelmed at how much we have raised.
"Thanks so much everyone for your support and motivation keeping us going!"
If you still want to give anything the link will be open for another week, here
Jason, who looks after fundraising at TOG Mind, said: “Alyx and Bob have done an amazing job in completing the challenge, but also raising much-needed funds for local mental health support.
"After a tough year, it’s really great to be able to end on such a positive note and everyone at TOG Mind is hugely appreciative of all the help and support provided.
"Local funds raised are always used locally.”
