Three white males with Irish accents approached an elderly resident's home address in south Chadderton
Residents have been warned by local police following a distraction burglary incident in Chadderton last night.
A post on the GMP Facebook page read: "At 6.30pm on January 14 (yesterday), three white males with Irish accents approached an elderly resident's home address in south Chadderton.
"The males spoke to the occupant and stated that there had been a flood next door before they made their way into the 83-year-old's property, walked upstairs and took the victim's wallet containing over £2,000.
"The males then left the property and walked off towards Turf Lane in Chadderton.
"The Neighbourhood Teams in Oldham were appalled to read this incident on our morning briefing and wanted to make you all aware.
"Unfortunately these unscrupulous individuals may appear convincing and can be very persuasive.
"Be alert and report anything suspicious by ringing 101 or 999 if you feel threatened or a crime is in progress.
"If you are in any doubt please keep them out."
