Saddleworth householders will paying an extra 75p contribution towards their annual Council Tax bill.

And the precept for 2021 and next year relates to one and a half pence increase a week.

Based on Band D properties, there will be a slightly variable increase or decrease in the final amount gauged on banding.

Worries the annual support grant of £10,000 would not be paid by Oldham council  were dissipated and the precept rise will block the gap in funding because Uppermill Civic Hall could not be hired during covid.

Councillor Brian Lord, chair of the parish council finance committee, said: “All our standing costs – wages, insurance, council tax remain much the same, leaving us with only about £35,000 to make any savings from,” he explained.

“The committee spent two lengthy meetings to try and save as much as possible without decimating the services we offer. We  believe one-and-a-half pence a week will not break the bank.”

Cllr Sam Al-Hamdani said average Parish Council precept increases in the UK last year was four per cent.
