Surge testing is being deployed in parts of Manchester
Surge testing is to be deployed in areas around Manchester in connection to new Covid variants.
Surge testing is being provided in addition to existing extensive testing which will help to monitor and suppress the spread of Coronavirus.
The stepped-up testing affects the following postcodes in Moss Side, Hulme, Fallowfield and Whalley Range: M14 4, M14 7, M15 5, M15 6, M16 7 and M16 8 where a COVID-19 variant has been found.
Residents in the areas are being encouraged to take a Covid test whether they are showing symptoms or not.
Extra testing units are being made available in the area, with council staff and volunteers knocking on doors and offering to provide testing kits.
