Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they arrested one man at an Oldham petrol station for imitation firearm offences following an incident which forced schools in the area to be placed into lockdown.
It was at around 2pm on Tuesday (9th February) when officers were called to Waltham Street in Oldham following reports of a disturbance and a man believed to be ‘armed’ with an imitation firearm.
When police arrived, they arrested a 24-year-old man on Abbey Hills Road on suspicion of firearms offences.
He remains in custody for questioning.
Schools in the area activated their lockdown procedures as a result of the incident, however the lockdown was lifted a short time later.
